June 8, 2022

We are extremely proud to extend our congratulations to John P. Correri, Jr., who was honored on 7 June 2022 by the Harford County Council as a Harford Living Treasure. This recognition is so well-deserved and we express our sincere appreciation to John and Linda for their continuing support and dedication to the men and women of the Havre de Grace Ambulance Corps, to the City of Havre de Grace, and to the County.

A long-serving member of the Havre de Grace Ambulance Corps and former Havre de Grace mayor was recognized as a Harford Living Treasure on Tuesday night by the Harford County Council.

John P. Correri, Jr. was celebrated for more than 50 years of service and leadership within various roles in Harford County.

"Nobody is more deserving of living treasure than you," Councilman Curtis Beulah said. "Fifty years of service to Havre de Grace and Harford County ... 35 years of service as an elected official."

Mr. Correri was first elected to the Havre de Grace City Council in 1978 and served as mayor from 2005 to 2007. He again served on the council in 2011.

Three pages were required to detail all of his contributions to the community, according to Beulah. "You are truly a treasure," Beulah said. "Thank you so much."

Mr. Correri is on the board of Citizens Care and Rehabilitation, is a trustee of the Havre de Grace Ambulance Corps and is a lifelong member of St. Patrick's Church and the Susquehanna Hose Company, officials said.

"I love seeing our fire department members," said Councilman Joseph Woods, who is a member of the Fallston Volunteer Fire & Ambulance Company.

The Harford County Council presented Mr. Correri with a proclamation declaring him a Harford Living Treasure. Residents who have lived in the county for at least 40 years are eligible to be nominated for the designation, which results in an interview that becomes part of the Harford County Public Library's oral history archives. The program, established in Harford County in 1981, preserves local history for future generations.

"I've received a few honors over the years, but this one, ladies and gentleman, is in my heart," Mr. Correri said to the council.

The Harford County Cultural Arts Board nominated Mr. Correri for the honor, and the County Council approved the recommendation and presented him with a proclamation in his honor on Tuesday.

Said Councilman Chad Shrodes: "Thank you for everything you've done for our great county."
